Grass cycling (Mulching)

What is Grass Cycling (mulching)?

Grass cycling is a proven system for maintaining lawns, which actually allows them to maintain themselves, saving you a lot of effort. Grass Cycling is the natural recycling of grass by leaving clippings on the lawn when mowing. The Robomow clippings are cut very finely and are put at the base of the grass allowing for quick decomposition (each blade of grass is cut at least 3 times). This process adds valuable nutrients (Nitrogen) and Water (85% of clippings are water) back into your soil. Grass clippings add beneficial organic matter to your soil, which provides free fertiliser and produces healthy green lawns.

What happens to the clippings?

The Robomow® is a 21-inch cut, triple chamber, dedicated mulching system, and the healthiest way to manage clippings for your lawn. It mulches in three separate chambers using high RPM motors (5800 RPM). The result is more effective mulching than most conventional mowers, leaving smaller clippings that disappear into the roots of the grass. These smaller clippings provide for quick decomposition into a natural fertilizer for your lawn. There is absolutely no need to collect the clippings.

Explain to me about fertilisation of the lawn?

Natural fertilisation using grass clippings produces about 1/4 of the fertiliser recommended for your lawn for one season. When clippings decompose they produce natural fertiliser giving you a greener healthier lawn. By recycling your clippings the environment is also benefiting.
