"Swords Lady wins a Roomba"
Following our recent competition at the Spring House and Garden Show show in the RDS I am pleased to announce that our winner is Colette Stears from Swords, County Dublin (shown on the right in the picture). Colette won the Roomba Silver model and has already put it to good use around her house.
We had a great interest in the competition with over 500 competition entrants. As a consolation prize to the 499 that didn't win we will be offering them a limited number of our products at a special post show price.
"Better Homes Exhibition - May 3rd to May the 5th"
The Better Homes exhibition is on the May bank holiday week-end on the Airport Road close to Swords. We will have an outside stand where we will be demonstrating the Robomow Robotic Lawnmower in action. Come to see us and make sure to enter in our competition.
"Home in on a handy robot"
Fancy putting your feet up while a robot hoovers around you? It may sound like something out of a sci-fi film, but it’s set to land on these shores in the shape of iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaner from Easy Living. Designed and built by people with a vast knowledge of robotics, the UFO-shaped vacuum can be switched on and left to its own devices while it methodically cleans your carpet. Sophisticated sensors mean the iRobot will cover every inch of the floor; and thanks to an integrated dirt detector it will only move on from an area when it is satisfied it is spotless. iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaner, from €339, from www.easyliving.ie
"Rush Company want to provide Easy Living"
Bill Gates famously said every home will have a robot by 2010 - now a Rush-based company is offering that luxury a little earlier.
Easy Living specialise in providing robotic lawn mowers and vacuum cleaners. Run by Ian and Colette Cleary, the company aims to 'make people's lives easier'. 'We also wanted to make our own lives easier, so we sold our house in Dundrum and moved out to Rush', Ian explained.
Easy Living have had orders from all over Dublin for their machines, which are sure to attract more interest in these busy, modern times. 'One of our products is Robomow,' Ian continued. 'It mows you don't'. We have a range of mowers, suitable for gardens, to football pitches and golf courses. The mower has three separate blades, is three times faster than a traditional mower and it also mulches everything. Its' battery powered too, meaning there's no petrol costs or emissions. 'On the larger models, you can actually set the mower to come out when ever you want and it will return to its charging unit once it's finished. 'A very small cable buried in to the grass stops it going into flower beds and sensors ensure it's safe. It also has a built-in compass, can cut uphill and it doesn't mind if it's day or night, or if it's raining.'
Easy Living also stock a robotic vacuum cleaner, entitled Roomba, which works on the same principal as the mower. Suitable for use on wooden floors, carpets and tiles, it's proven to be just as popular.'I loaned one of the hoovers to my mother and she won't give it back,' Ian joked. 'It can clean under beds and under couches, and again it's perfect for people with back problems, the elderly or those who just don't have time.
As you can see from the pictures below Robomow has very powerful blades that allows it to cut very high grass and even still do some mulching. The pictures show a recent installation. Now that the grass is cut it's in maintenance mode here on in!
